Safe and Efficient Operation Rules for CTY Battery Locomotives

——Ensuring Long-Term Performance Through Proper Use and Maintenance

Battery locomotives are essential in modern underground mining, providing stable and eco-friendly transport power. To keep these machines performing at their best, operators must understand and follow the correct usage standards. The following guidelines outline the key operation rules for the CTY series battery locomotives, helping ensure both safety and efficiency in daily mining work.

In underground mining operations, the CTY series battery locomotives play a crucial role in ensuring efficient ore transportation and safe working conditions. To maintain stable performance and extend the lifespan of the equipment, operators must strictly follow the standard operating rules and safety procedures.

Certified Operation Only

Every driver must hold a valid locomotive operation certificate before handling the CTY battery locomotive. Unqualified personnel are not allowed to operate under any circumstances.

Load and Speed Control

The working load must never exceed the specified value. During normal operation on level tracks, the braking distance at the rated hourly speed should not exceed 6 meters. Maintaining these parameters ensures safety and reduces wear on the braking system.

Correct Driving Direction

When the locomotive is in motion, the driver’s cab should always be positioned in the forward direction. Reversing operation is only permitted when performing switching or shunting tasks.

Prohibited Operation Conditions

Locomotive operation is strictly forbidden in the following cases:

  • Buffer or coupling device failure

  • Brake system malfunction or improper adjustment

  • Lighting damage

  • Gearbox failure

  • Frame spring or suspension damage

  • Electrical system failure

  • Wheel flange wear exceeding 8 mm or wheel thickness less than 30 mm

In addition, reverse current braking (also known as counter-current braking) and applying mechanical brakes without disconnecting the electrical circuit are strictly prohibited. Both can cause severe mechanical or electrical damage.

By adhering to these regulations, operators can ensure that CTY locomotives perform reliably and safely, minimizing downtime and maintenance costs. Proper use not only protects workers but also enhances the overall productivity of mining operations.
